What you read on here is all true! The food is delicious and gluten free and beautifully prepared and the room is small and purposefully scruffy and intimidating to people with no imagination. But if you are happy to eat from gourmet food trucks and market stalls, (there for the food and not there for the decor —- and actually willing to put some faith in the cute woman and guy) who seem to run the place you are rewarded with enormous portions of freshly prepared, gluten free, authentic Japanese food. When I arrived some young women were nervously leaving without sitting because the decor worried them, perhaps used to chain restaurants... but I am delighted to have stayed and enjoyed one of the best meals I have had during my 6 months in Japan.
MoreThere are still very few Gluten-free restaurants in Japan. Interesting thing in this restaurant is the menu is in English and there is no obligation and restriction in selecting food because of Language barrier.Even a foreigner like me can order his/her favorite food without other assist.The price is cheaper, and the food is delicious.

MoreLittlebird is a bit hard to find from the street—it’s on the third floor. The decor is a homey hodgepodge of notes from customers, and the menu is a really expansive selection of gluten-free takes on Japanese food. (There’s also vegan and dairy-free dishes too.) I’m not actually gluten free but went on a recommendation. I was so surprised at how crunchy the karaage fried chicken was, and how good the crepe was. Portions are huge and prices are reasonable. Very English friendly.
MoreFollowing the reviews of other celiac travelers (my wife is celiac) and after three weeks in Japan struggling to find places to eat safe from gluten, we found Littlebird. It was the only chance for my wife to eat Yakisoba, Udon Noodles, Kaarage fried chicken and even Gyoza!!! The portions were super generous and the food extremely tasty and good!Dessert was an amazing waffle with green tea ice cream. Next time we come to Tokyo we will pay a daily visit to Littlebird!!!Very important: the café is in the third floor of a building you cannot identify except for the sign in the street mentioning it (see photo attached). Google map location is correct!

Absolutely gorgeous little restaurant. A selection of Japanese and western fishes are on offer. All menu items are gluten free and there are some dairy free options also. It's so good to find a fully gf restaurant do that we can all enjoy a good meal. I fully recommend a visit here even if you have no dietary requirements.

MoreGlutenfree Cafe Littlebird is an ideal choice for a traveler to Tokyo with dietary or allergy restrictions. It is not easy to find, however, worth the trek for gluten-free options.It's a tiny upstairs cafe with limited seating and an open kitchen. Their staff is quiet, but helpful and the food came out great. We tried the gyoza and Udon noodles, however, the pizza smelled and looked exceptional. My husband has celiac's disease and had never had an opportunity to try gyoza, so he was so happy to try this dish. It's the perfect place to go with a travel partner or by yourself with a good book!

MoreTo note, I am a Coeliac that visited Tokyo recently. I read about this place online and wanted to give it a try, was extremely excited that it was completely gluten free meaning no risk of contamination. It was a really small place for a 6'5" individual, but I could stand just fine, maneuvering to the table was a tight fit. I ordered the Okonomiyaki which was absolutely amazing. If only I could upload the video, but it came out sizzling as the flakes danced to the rising heat. Gluten free or not, it is worth your time. This place makes all their food fresh and right in the kitchen where you can see. Will definitely visit again.
MoreThe banana and raw ham pizzas were wonderful. As for hamburgers the ketchup did not taste very good and the pommes were too mushy but the actual burgers were good. Tried various dishes here and most are great. Overall one of my favorite restaurants in Tokyo.

MoreLittlebird was a literal gem to find. Even for those who aren’t gluten free, everything on the menu is delicious! The owner was lovely, and is more than happy to work around any dietary requirements. The menu has so many staples of Japanese cuisine, usually off limits to those with dietary requirements, available as gluten free and even vegan/dairy free.We had Burgers (both beef and vegetarian) and Karage Chicken for mains. The bread was amazing (would not have picked it as gluten free!) and all fillings were very fresh.But the true highlight - the waffles and crepes for dessert. The crepes were delicious - light, fluffy and creamy. The Berry Sorbet on the waffles though is some of the most flavoursome we’ve ever found. Do yourself a favour - whether you have dietary requirements or not - and visit Littlebird! We can’t wait to come back for another visit.

This place is AMAZING! My mom and I have Celiac and went here for lunch then came back for dinner because it was so delicious! I highly recomend this place with people who have to and dont have to eat gluten free. They have everything from American food to traditional Japanese food, all delicious and reasonably priced!

MoreAn absolute godsend for coeliacs in Tokyo! The food (100% gluten free menu) was delicious even for non-coeliacs and I was thrilled to eat foods I haven't in years - gluten free fried chicken and gyoza!! Main downsides are that it's quite out of the way and not easy to find. Also it's a fairly small concrete space with no windows which could be unpleasant if it was crowded.

MoreAmazing! It's cash-only that requires each guest to order at least one food dish, so come prepared with some extra yen. Space is quite cozy, but wasn't crowded. The karaage was hot, crispy, and amazing, and the banana chocolate rice roll might have been the best dessert I've ever had! Definitely worth the trip ❤️

I could not recommend this place any higher and will be eating here again so I can try some of the other menu items! Very friendly service and reasonable prices 😍
MoreThis place is amazing. If you're looking to take the hassle out of gluten free dining in Tokyo then take the trip out here. A very straight forward but broad menu covering everything from pizzas and burgers to ramen and gyoza. Everything we ordered was delicious and well priced and much cheaper than cafe meals we find back in Australia. Cosy atmosphere to top it off. 10/10 would visit again. P.s Get the waffles ;)
MoreI’m not even allergic to gluten and I think the Ramen is so world class! I was literally blown away! The gyoza tasted home made and some of the best I ever had. Karage chicken rocked! Also very affordable too!

MoreTraveling with someone with Celiac can be a bit disheartening in Japan, especially because they can’t try dishes like udon, ramen, gyoza, etc. Coming to Littlebird was like a dream come true though, all of these things and more are available as gluten free. It’s such a cozy cafe on the 3rd floor with friendly English-speaking staff and a unique, diverse menu. I thought that making food gluten free would sacrifice some of the flavor, but it’s quite the opposite here. The gyoza was some of the best I’ve had so far in Japan, and all the food was absolutely fantastic. So much so that I plan on returning by myself even though I’m not gluten free. I can’t say enough good things about this place, everything was perfect!

Everything is gluten free Used this restaurant to convince my friend that gluten free can be good.I ordered the gyoza, fried gyoza, fried chicken, French fries, and a chocolate banana waffle to share between two people. Came out to Y1850/person so very reasonable and also very good and filling.Likely to go back during my stay in Tokyo.

The meals filled me up to capacity.I would like to thank the chef who made the meals and the waiter for their hospitality. It's worthwhile coming from Australia to the little bird and I recommend it to anyone who is gluten free😇

MoreThis was a comfortable cosy cafe! Really enjoyed the food but I will note the portions are quite big and found my self feeling very full halfway through. This could be because as I am from the UK, where I am used to much smaller portions. Desserts are super yummy and if I wasn't so full then I'd have ordered more. :D overall if you have coeliac disease I 100 % recommend coming here as the food is really tasty and filling.

MoreIf you’re gluten free you have to come here. You owe it to yourself after all the plain rice, plain fish, plain tofu meals you’ve had in japan, come here. Plan your day around it. If you haven’t booked your accommodations yet, stay close to here so you can come here a few times. You owe it to yourself to experience a taste of the Japanese food culture that the world raves about. Come hungry, though you probably already are if you’re gluten-free and traveling in Japan.
MoreVisited here twice with my family while on vacation in Tokyo. We tried something different each time, and everything was amazing. Serving sizes were huge as well. Wish we found this place at the start of our trip. Eating gluten free as coeliacs is never easy.Definitely hope to come back on our next trip.

MoreDefinitely the best gluten free food I was able to find in Japan. This is a very small cafe and it is not particularly clean (especially the food preparation area). The food, however, is tasty and for those on a gluten free diet, this small cafe is a godsend when traveling in Japan.
